A week ago I read this article in the newspaper and ripped it out. I really wanted to share my opinion about this subject, but as I had several posts timed last week, it’s only now I can actually post this.
“Fashionblogs, the end is near”.
For the non-dutchies: it’s about the overflow of fashion bloggers and the booming hype slowly fading away. I translate: “Most heard motivation to start blogging? Frontrow tickets at fashion shows, free clothes and making money.” Really? Is this the main reason to start blogging? Is this the truth, or just the writer’s opinion? Is this how everybody thinks of fashionbloggers or do these kind of bloggers really exist? When reading this sentence, I can’t help but to be annoyed. I do hope there are just a few bloggers who started blogging for this reason. And I wish them luck, because you won’t become a great blogger in just one day. You have to have the passion, the drive, the love for writing of photography, the urge to share your style, story and life with the world and willing to put a lot of work into blogging. About the amount of fashionbloggers I have to agree with the author. There are a lot (and with that I really mean a lot) of bloggers nowadays and only the strong and powerful blogs will survive. I also agree with that. But for some it is never meant to be to become big. I started this blog to share all my creative thoughts and love for beautiful things and photography. I still can’t believe to be recognized at the local supermarket or whilst dancing in the weekends. But I love the fact that people like what I share online. It’s the biggest motivation to keep doing what I love to do. And that’s the most important thing of all: doing what you love! Be passionated! If your blog becomes one of the biggest or not, as long as you do with the right drive, all fashion blogs have a change of surviving!
